19th century or earlier Japanese sword set of bronze fuchi (bordering piece between the sword guard and the handle) and kashira (metal pommel at the end of the hilt of a sword) with low relief design of chidori (plovers) in flight over the cresting waves. Excellent quality work, gilding, beautiful wear. Kashira length 1.4 inches, fuchi length 1.5 inches.
Japanese green studio crackle ware vase with applied silver floral motifs. With tomobako. The foot is signed Shofu Katei (1870-1928). Small wear losses.
Shofu Katei was born in 1870 in Seto, Japan. He later moved to Kyoto where has was adopted into the prestigious Shofu family kiln to create Japanese ceramics. In 1908, he set up the Shofu Ceramics Company, Ltd. and was awarded a Green Ribbon in 1915.

A late 18th or early 19th Century Famille Rose enamelled jar made in China, probably for export, during the reign of the Jiaqing emperor. For comparison (of enamels) we have pictured two export Lion Joss Stick Holders (usually dated either late Qianlong or Jiaqing, circa 1800) in our last enlargement. Condition - very good - there are no damages and there has been no restoration. 16cm (6.3inches) high...
Jeweler's mould, used to make gold or silver jewelry, decorated in relief inside to represent a dancing Hindu female deity ("deva"). Bronze with nice green and reddish patina. India, early 18th century. Diameter: 2 4/8" (6,7 cm). Very good condition.
If you are looking to fill your vacant Plainview Paleo spot, look no further. You would be hard-pressed to find a better example. It is 4 1/8" long. It has collateral high quality flaking. The hafting area is ground and it has basal thinning. It is made from a beautiful translucent chalcedony that is root beer colored. It was found in Mills County, Texas. I have owned it since 1998. It is a hands down G-10 and comes with a Bill Breckinridge laser COA.

Shoki Imari, using underglaze cobalt blue painting with oftentimes borrowed Chinese motifs, such as this piece, were made in the Arita kilns near the port of Imari from the 17th Century. This is also an example of fairly rare "Ao Imari," (literally "blue" Imari) with a green-blue background rather than the standard porcelain white background...

19th Century Sharkskin Head Band Case with Lacquered Dragon and Many Fine Details. A string would have been looped through either the lacquered dragon or the brass ring on the lid. Only a high-ranking person would have had a case that was made of sharkskin. This one is completely covered in sharkskin. The beautifully rendered brass hardware has grape motifs etched into them, a symbol of abundance, because of its many seeds...

Large Chinese Guanyin Temple statue made of Jade, with changing jade colours from light green to green, yellow, grey and black. This solid figure is seated on a double lotus flower, one hand holding the pearl and the other a vase.
The Guanyin is in great antique condition with very detailed carvings. Absolutely rare and one of a kind. It dates from the Mid Qing Period (circa late 18th. century)...
Very well cast 18-19th century bronze Tara from north India or Nepal. It is 10 ½ inches tall and in very good condition.
Vase in fine Satsuma earthenware enamelled in Osaka in Yabu Meizan's workshop at the end of the 19th century around 1890. The decoration is compartmentalized in 4 cartouches and represents the 4 seasons. The landscapes are meticulously painted, the details are surprisingly elegant and realistic. For winter, a snow-covered port is represented, the trees are heavy with snow, everything is motionless, padded. The cartouches are surrounded by a beautifully painted thousand-flower background...

It is 8.9 inches (22.7 cm) tall by 3.85 inches (9.8 cm) wide. It weighs 1429 gram (3.2 lb).
It has rubbing of gilt, peeling of lacquer, pitting, oxidation, rubbing of patina, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

A very unusual James Pennington bowl with a shaped rim. The painted scene depicts oriental buildings, with the reverse showing rockwork and a variety of odd trees. The interior rim of the bowl has a blue border with stylized flowers or fruit.
The bowl is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, paint loss, or restoration. The enamels are a deep, rich blue. The diameter is 4 3/8" and the height is 2 1/8".

The round funnel bowl features an oval cartouche with a pair of clasped hands, reaching out of clouds, in front of a blazing heart, all of this backed by rays of sunshine. The cartouche is surrounded by fulsomely engraved elaborate scrolls, foliage, and groups of flowers, all highlighted by superb polished details...
19th century marine material netsuke with engraved decoration of a crane taking off by pine saplings and mist. Very nice quality work, beautiful patina, characteristic marine sheen to the surface. Central peg with a horizontal hole in its back part serves as himotoshi. Length 2 3/16 inches.
