Large Chinese Neolithic Machang Painted Pottery Jar

This large and impressive pottery jar was made over 4,000 years ago during the Machang Phase (c. 2300 - 2000 BC) of the Majiayao culture, also known as the Gansu-Yangshao culture, from present day Gansu or Qinghai province. A Song dynasty longquan celadon large dish with two fish motif, center decorate with molded large two fish motif, outer wall with flower petals motif, dish covered with good green celadon glaze, good condition with crack line on the center please see picture for detail, size: 30 cm diameter.

Porcelain covered with celadon glaze to the foot and decorated with floral carved motif, unglazed concave base. PERIOD : Yue ware 9th Century MEASUREMENTS: 17.2 cm wide, 7.1 cm tall. CONDITION : Perfect, no chips, cracks or hairlines and free from restorations.

 

Square shaped seal with incised design representing a humped bull facing left, surmounted by a four character inscription. Indus Valley civilisation, ca. 3000 B.C. Height: 40 mm. Slight abrasion, otherwise very good condition.

Tang dynasty 9 - 10th century Changsha bowl with possibly Arabic motif, good glaze good condition no damage no chip crack or restoration small glaze nick at outer rim, please see picture for detail, size: 14 cm diameter.

Made of red pottery, covered with a white layer of slib, then painted. Tang Dynasty (618-907). Height 34,5 cm. Condition: expected age wear, overall in good condition. A thermoluminescence-test from Kotalla confirms the dating of this figure and is included in the sale.

Bronze statue of Bodhisattva Padmapani, standing, wearing diadem and dhoti. Right arm, left hand and feet missing. Fine patina. Gandhara Civilisation 1st to 3rd century. Height: 23,6 cm. The statue is nicely mounted on a custom stand.

Featuring a globular body with a short waisted neck that flares out to a flanged rim which is slightly depressed in the center with two loop handles on opposite sides of its shoulders. The vessel is covered overall in an olive green yue-type celadon glaze, except for its base, exposing its grey stoneware clay. Measurements: Height 10.5”inches.
