A large Ming dynasty style square form vase (Fang Hu), with abstracted 'dragon' handles. The vase is decorated in under glaze cobalt blue with "heaped and piled" effect. Lovely Iban woman’s skirt from the Kapit region in Sarawak, circa 1940-1950. The broad center field is woven from handspun cotton and natural dyes. The red use in this is particularly rich. The narrow bands on the side are made of commercial thread and dye. This has a Bangit fruit pattern, which signifies “abundance”. This 19th century deeply-carved small boxwood root brush holder (Bi Tong) is 5 ¼ inches high and 2 5/8 inches wide. The carver used the natural shape of the root to create a pine tree and plum blossom. The workmanship is great. The design, carving and polishing are all very well executed. The bottom was filled with softer wood. It is in excellent condition.

An antique Japanese Matsumoto Kimono Tansu made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. All original hand made iron fittings including stylized Mokko handles with unusual front drawer corner decorative plates. Each side has its main swivel carrying handles where a bamboo pole slipped through and two attendants on each side would easily transport this chest. Antique Thai Buddhist amulet, Phra Somdej "King of Amulets". The amulet itself is made of baked clay in the form of a seated Buddha or Bodhisattva. This late 19th century Chinese carved ivory Guan Yin (goddess of mercy) is 11 ½ inches tall, 2 ½ inches wide and 2 ¼ inches thick. She is standing on a double lotus base. One hand is holding prayer beads, the other is holding a lotus. The workmanship and the quality of the ivory are superb. Besides a few small hairline cracks, it is in excellent condition.

Lovely 19th C Japanese Imari porcelain dish featuring 2 shi shi lion dogs. In very good antique condition, the dish measures 10" diameter x 2" deep. Meiji era, circa 1890.

This is a wonderful Meiji Era Satsuma tray from Seikozan. The detail is outstanding but the condition is even better. The condition of this piece is pristine and like new or the day it left the workshop. In fact, this piece is the finest preserved example of Meiji era Satsuma we have ever had. Ironically, we found a small factory repair to one of the corners. We ran tests and it is absolutely a gold covered Seikozan factory repair (See last image).

Modeled in the Chinese style, this baluster vase is fitted with elephant head handles on the neck and is decorated in three registers, the largest of which displays four dragons in low-relief over a diamond diaper ground. Various floral and bird designs decorate the lower registers. Extensive verdigris covers the surface as well as the interior and the base as a result of use as a garden ornament. There are no damages or repairs.

This two-part buckle is formed with a dragon head clasp on one piece, and the other is slotted for hooking under the dragon's head. Each has a central medallion cast in low relief of a double gourd “magic elixir” bottle. Both pieces are finished with a stylized bat motif. The underside of each has two attached pieces to receive the belt. Much gilding remains on the fronts, though worn. The reverse of each is ungilded and has old natural patina from use.
