It is amazing that about half of the snuff still remains in this bottle. Lacking a stopper, it was stuffed with tissue when we received it. We added the stopper for display purposes. The scene surrounding the bottle depicts a person riding a buffalo towards a mountain range while pointing behind him to the man with an umbrella. The bottle has a network of crackles stained over to a pale brownish tone. There are some pin pricks from firing, maybe bits of ash. Dates 1800s. 3 inches high.

Ten creamware dinner plates, transfer printed in puce with a cottage, a farmboy and cattle within a lace border, the outer rim with hand painted vine leaves, also in puce (one vine wreath partly in orange). From Herculaneum in Liverpool c 1810, all with the impressed mark of the pottery as a straight line, in the style of Wedgwood, the name of the pottery also competing with Wedgwood’s Etruria. A folky miniature portrait painting of a young man. With his stylish hairdo, high collar, and patterned vest, and pin, the gentleman exemplifies a dandy of the time. The blue hues in the background provide a striking contrast to the relatively monochromatic tones of the sitter.
The miniature is 2 3/8" by 1 3/4" and is housed in its original 2 1/2" by 2" brass case, which also has a lock of hair in the rear aperture. Condition is excellent, with no cracks, bowing, or paint flaking.

A good quality Japanese vase and cover decorated with scrolling Octopus-vine patterns almost entirely covering the body of the vase and cover. Probably Arita in origin. The vase dates to the early 19th Century and the late Edo period.
The vase stands 26cm high, including the cover, and has a diameter of 15cm. The foot-ring measures 8cm. The vase weighs 1445 grams in total. The condition is good no cracks, chips or restoration to the body. There is a crack to the rim of the cover (see images)....
