Well-potted brushpot with a very carefully painted dragon and fish design in a deep sepia-toned enamel that is slightly raised on the biscuit-fired background. This is a Straits Nyonya gilt repousse plate or gilt gold bantal/pillow end , silver repousse work to ornament the wedding pillow or wedding ceremonial ornaments for the Straits Chinese and Malays here, this gilt piece (I have anothe smaller is in good condition with minor wear/tear signs, as it is more than 90 yrs old or older.

Daimyo hikeshi shozoku: Samurai firefighter's wool jacket with a silk velvet collar; the crest and design are couched with gold leaf thread (wrapped around silk thread), chest protector and belt. Antique Continental 18thc mortar but no pestle, very nice antique for both display and kitchen use.

It is the Katazome cotton cloth which this was made for Edo period and was dyed on the basis of a natural indigo plant. As for this, cotton is spun by hand and is slightly thick. A beautifully carved and polychromed alabaster figure of a standing female divinity, wearing a dark green sari scattered with a gilt floral pattern, both hands held out towards the front, youthful face with large eyes and simple gilt diadem encircling her black-painted hair, Indian, 19th century. Floral embroidery in several shades of blue silk thread decorate this white silk sleeve band. Mostly embroidered with satin stitch, there is a rose embroidered with peking knots and high-lighted with gold couching. A beautiful Japanese, Edo Period Massive Satsuma Domed Covered Urn 30.5”

Carved from a single block of hardwood, this Chinese drum has great patina aged surfaces. An old folk art instrument, it shows the wear of use during many musical performances at chinese operas and street festivals. When "beaten" with its accompanying drum stick, it has a deep attractive sound.

Victorian Classical sterling silver coffeepot. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Baluster with vertical spout and hinged and domed cover. Stained-wood finial and capped scroll handle. Repousse rinceaux bands and applied gadrooned borders on body; repousse twisted leaves on cover top. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 6233, and director’s letter T (1892-1902). Very good condition.

Antique Japanese round porcelain plate decorated with blue underglaze scene of two fish and underwater plants. The plate stands on a round foot and the underside is decorated with rings and scrolling flora in blue underglaze. A small gold kintsugi repair and kiri tomobako are evidence that this was a valuable and prized part of someone's collection years ago.

Victorian silver plated sugar tongs in the Gothic Revival taste. Each of the twisted sides is decorated with a woman (who looks curiously like a nun) holding a child, and an angel-like figure. The oval tips are gilt.

Age: Taisho Period (1912-1926)

18th century Japanese sword iron tsuba with pierced decoration of chi dragons contesting tama (Precious Gems) among scrolling clouds. Strong early piece with numerous perforations and three dimensional work, gilding, wear and patina consistent with age. Height 2.82 inches, width 2.58 inches.

This Acme silver Co. number 732 three cherries and leaves drape over one side of the napkin holder which has a leaf-shaped base. Sometimes this napkin holder will be marked Standard Silver Co., Ltd.

This napkin ring is 2 1/2" tall and is circa 1885. It is engraved with the name " Grace". It has wonderful patina.

Finely potted Meiping, evenly potted with a Russet - brown glaze. The Russet glaze variegated with patches of black - brown to the neck and around the neck. Ding - Ware ( Dingyao ) Northern Song Dynasty 11th - 12th century. H : 23,8 cm. Condition : Perfect.

A rare 15th century Vietnamese annamese blue and white stecup in Yuan style motif, continuous flower motif at the exterior and Chinese character at inner center, stemcup in good condition with small chip at the rim please see picture for detail, size: 10.6 cm height, 9.5 cm diameter.

 

Ancient Near East, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BC. An elaborate bronze cloak pin, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process with a Zoomorphic beast terminal.

Used to fasten clothes, in this case due to the unusually heavy fabric and decoration, likely leather for presentation use - perhaps for a very thick cape or leather armor.

A superb quality very large pottery figure of a male attendant or official, dating to the earlier Ming Dynasty, 1400-1500 AD.

The figure is placed on a high hexagonal plint and wears a fine two-colour blue and turquoise glazed robe. The unglazed areas have pigmented colors in red, black and white. Finely painted facial details.

Description: A long neck yellow-glazed bottle vase was mold in elegant shape.
Decorated on the shoulder with lotus petals in vivid curves, the bottle was well proportioned and stand by a flat bottom.
Having been through thousands of years under earth, the surface was spread immensely with fine crackles and some stains.
The condition was very good with the least abrasions.

A pair of CJ Mason porcelain plates circa 1825 A pair of distinctively molded bone china porcelain plates from the Mason factory circa 1825. Each is hand painted with a bouquet of flowers and the molded pattern enhanced with copper tinged gilding. They have no maker’s mark, but this molded porcelain is associated with the factory. Pattern mark 963 on the back of both, though the “9” is hardly there on one of the plates. 8 ½ inches diameter.

Traditional scroll painting of what I am assuming is the Chinese ideal of a courtesan putting her make up on in morning. This was painted in the year of the Fire Rat- 1936 or 1996. I would tend put this at the earlier date because the paper shows some age and this has been newly remounted, as well as the style is evoking feeling of a French boudoir.
