DESCRIPTION: A large Qing Dynasty artist’s calligraphy brush fashioned from wood and carved in a naturalistic design. The long black bristles are attached to a bulbous ferrule with the handle carved in a design reminiscent of bamboo leaves. 1900' Chinese Chicken Bone Jade Carved Boy Toggle and Japanese Cloisonne Inro

The inro is 2.6 inches (6.5 cm) long by 1.4 inches (3.5 cm) wide by 0.82 inch (2.1 cm) thick. The toggle is 1.1 inches (2.8 cm) tall by 1.5 inches (3.85 cm) wide. It is 103 gram.

It has minor missing enamel, surface wears and scratches at the inro. The jade boy has inclusions, a chip and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Wonderful Japanese wooden okimono of a seated monkey searching for fleas; exquisite workmanship throughout; inlaid horn eyes; signed Ryomin

This rare tortoise shell carved RuYi (scepter) is a mid-19th century product. It is 13 ½” long and 3 1/2” wide from the widest part (head of the scepter). There are fourteen cranes carved in relief flying in coiled lucky clouds. The pattern repeats and covers the entire handle and head. It is in excellent condition. More photos are available.

This superb late 19th century export ivory carving is 11 ¾” high, 4 ½” wide and 3 ¾” thick. It depicts daily activity in a small village. There are houses, temples and pagodas surrounded by a river, a forest of pine trees and mountains. There is an old repair on a pine tree, some small losses and several hairline cracks on the top of the tusk. Considering its age, it is in great condition.

Japanese lacquered wooden netsuke of a seated boy; minor wear to the lacquer; good condition

This very well carved ivory glove stretcher is a mid 19th century product. There are garden scenes carved on both sides. It is 10 ¾” long. It has beautiful patina. Aside from a few crack lines due to its age, it is in excellent condition.

This is a pair of Qing dynasty blue and white flowers motive jar. There are crab apple tree, chrysanthemum and peony plants painted on the jar. On the shoulder of the jar, a band with four sections are painted with lotus flower. The vase is luted together horizontally in two parts as shown in picture no 5. The circa. of this jar is 18th century.

19th century boxwood netsuke depicting the head of himono (gutted dried fish). Initially food taken along on a journey, dried fish came to symbolize good luck and health. Beautiful realistic carving (appears to be a head of salmon), wonderful sharp detailing, clever use of one eye as himotoshi. Superb patina on wood, in excellent condition, very pleasant to hold. An antique Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest) made of kiri (paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including stylized gumbai handles. Two sliding kiri wood panels framed in black lacquer over two large drawers for safe keeping of inventory. Iron drawer corners feature raised seed pods suggesting this chest originated in the Yonezawa region of Japan.
