Beautifully carved throne chair with a gorgeous deep reddish lacquer, with carvings of dragons and billowing winds into its back, dragon heads serving as the arms and front legs with painted glass eyes. The back of the chair features a large spiral leaf, smoke-like carvings along the top and sides, and a small lower panel with fleur de lys carving and a cloud border. Japanese calligraphy box made with Keyaki (elm) wood in original dark red lacquer finish. The lid lifts open on three iron hinges with a top iron handle to a shallow lacquered compartment for storing calligraphy papers, and closes securely with a small iron latch. The front of the box holds three drawers with iron lock plates and handles on floral shaped iron mounts.

This is a Fusube-kawa (Smoked leather) wallet from the Edo period(1800-1867). Fusube-kawa is a leather that smokes the ground black with the smoke of pine needles and leaves a white pattern. The pattern is expressed by collecting samples of Fusube-kawa type dyeing. It is a valuable item to know a part of Fusube-kawa crafts in the Edo period. Wealthy people in the Edo period put koban (gold coins) in this wallet...

It is 3.74 inches (9.5 cm) tall by 12.59 inches (32 cm) in length by 8.85 inches (22.5 cm) wide. It is 3.1 Lb.

It has chips, cracks, peeling and retouching of lacquer, writing at the bottom, felt fabric glued to the bottom, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Instead of shoes, sandals such as these were worn in villages throughout India. Hand carved from indigenous woods, frequently teak and fitted to the individual wearer. The knob on the toe prevented the sandals from falling off and no other attachment was used.

Very charming three figure ensemble of a king with two female attendants. One attendant holds a fan that moves. The male figure's head nods. They wear white and pink clothes with gold details. Measures 8" wide at base.

A fine early 18th sake flask, Tokkuri, of European form, the shape derived from Dutch Gin bottles. It is decorated with alternating panels of the Three Friends of Winter, Shochikubai, and a rather unusual combination of a Dragon amongst clouds, and stylised Ginko. The shoulders of the bottle are decorated with stylised Lotus mon amongst karakusa, and the top with a tako-karakusa, octopus scroll, border.

This is a finely carved and molded Quartz Hair crystal Snuff Bottle in a rectangular form with a round neck, and and a raised oval footing. Two flying bats with spread wings decorate one side of the bottle. The transparency of the tea-colored crystal enables the observe to see parallel spiral lines left by the tool used to carve the well-done internal cavity of the bottle...

A Korean celadon stand of a barbed form, late Goryeo dynasty. The exterior with floral sanggam design, and upper surface with moulded decoration. The foot with attached kiln sand. Dimensions: diameter 11.25 cm. Condition: with some age related wear, and a glaze crack to the rim which may extend to the other side; as a hairline. Additional photos are available upon request.

This is a late 19th or early 20th century Chinese carved HuangYang root wood scepter (Ru Yi). It measures 17 inches long and 3 ¼ inches at its widest part. It is in very good condition.
