Very Fine and Beautifully Rendered Hono Ema from the Tensho Shrine, dated October 7, 1695. The inscription reads Mikawa Province (modern day eastern Aichi Prefecture), Tomifuku-gun ('county'), Oshiro Mountain. While the wealthy would often give a horse as a gift to a Shinto shrine, the common person would give a Hono Ema (literally 'gift horse picture'). These plaques are then left hanging up at the shrine for the gods to see...

Traditional scroll painting of what I am assuming is the Chinese ideal of a courtesan putting her make up on in morning. This was painted in the year of the Fire Rat- 1936 or 1996. I would tend put this at the earlier date because the paper shows some age and this has been newly remounted, as well as the style is evoking feeling of a French boudoir. A rare 16th Century AVA Period Limestone Head of Buddha (Burma, 1287 - 1752) with sweeping eyebrows over downcast eyes, typical of Ava art-style, well modeled lips and elongated ears. Carved in high relief as most likely originally set against a back slab. Condition good, one small chip on tip of nose. This head has been nicely mounted on a black stand. Size: H. 20cm x W. 13cm x D. 12cm, excluding stand.

Genuine turquoise stone. The overall condition is good, except for an unnoticeable chip on the left side of the boy’s robe. In Chinese Fengshui, “Drum” symbolizes good reputation and social status. Size: 2.5 inches (65mm) tall.

A large Kakiemon low bowl painted in underglaze blue with some light enamelling in yellow, green and iron red, somenishikide style made for the Japanese domestic market. The central reserve superbly painted in sansui landscape of mountainous cliffs overhanging a body of water with two small fishing boats. The cavetto of the bowl decorated with the shochikubai, the Three Friends of Winter. The reverse decorated with krakusa with chrysanthemum form blooms, symbols of longevity...

Four(4) Chinese Export Blue and White Porcelain Plates, Qianlong period 1736-1795, 9" diameter, 1 1/8" high, underglaze blue decoration of landscape design inside Fan in the center within four(4) sets of floral decoration, and sprays of floral and fan shape design spread out on the outer border with thin brown color rim. One(1) chip size of 1/4" x 1/8" under the rim, small bruise on the one of the plate, several frits on the bottom rim.

It has oxidation, pitting, firing holes at the seat and chips at the fingers of one hand and surface scratches (as seen in the photos).

Primitively carved molave hardwood mortar from the Philippines. This container would have been used for food preparation for grinding grain. It has an interesting wooden handle that gives this piece an unusual character. The bottom of the square bowl is worn through with years of use.

Rare silver mounted boar's tusk opium pipe from the Himalayas in the Tibetan area. The bowl is in the form of a dragon's head with dark blue glass eyes and has a cover fashioned as the dragon's nose with a chain attached. Marked 925. This is real treasure for the collector and is in excellent working condition. Following the outer curve it measures 7.5 inches. Dates circa 1900.

An unusually small and rare antique Japanese Cha Tansu (tea chest) made of Kuwa (Mulberry) and Kuri (Chestnut) woods. All original bronze hardware. Two sliding doors behind which tea accessories were stored. A lift-out door behind which housed a tea canister of dried tea leaves ready for brewing. With four drawers of varying sizes to store additional tea accoutrements.
