This is an fine Japanese Cloisonne Koro in nearly mint condition. It has been used and some of the smoke residue can be seen on the underside of the lid. There are no damages and virtually wear to the gold. The koro stands 4 1/4 inches tall and is 3 1/2 inches wide.

Description:
A wood water basin was nicely carved in shape of a lotus leaf with a lotus pond.
It was preserved in very good condition by nice brownish patina.
Some of the seeds in the lotus pond were still movable when some were sticked but nothing is missing.
It was a charming and very rare piece by this type.
Most of the old wood pieces were made as brush pots in relief carving...

The variety and types of embroidery stitches on this antique Chinese hat are old typically Miao minority. Probably done by dotting grandmother. The silver ornaments, the butterfly, the bubbles are symbolic of the Miao myth regarding the birth of the human race. The hat shows some dirt but is otherwise in good condition.
Very fine gilt wooden Burmese Nat with elaborate dress, inlaid with many sparkling mirror pieces. The figure is in a protective position with hands guarding off evil spirits. The Nat's name is "Amay Yay Yin", meaning "Mother Yay Yin" and she conquered the river. Thus, people who travel by water, revere her to protect them from danger. Japanese "zelkova" (keyaki) wood Yonezawa style two-section tansu with round iron lock plates engraved in a butterfly motif and rimmed with a thin band of silvery "hakudo" (nickel alloy). "Mokko" (melon style) drawer pulls and four side carrying handles. Circa 1880. 38"H x 38 3/4"W x 17 1/2"D. The tansu is in very good sturdy condition and has the original lacquered finish. This Indo-Persian antique silver repousse lidded container box was probably intended for cosmetics. The elaborate design work is flawless and the attention to detail were hallmarks of luxury items made during the late 19th century in both India and Persia. There are 2 makers marks and some scratches on the bottom of the box. See picture
