The rare shape of this bowl is so to say a forerunner of a shape which was common during the Yuan Dynasty. In his book "Chinese blue and white Porcelain" Duncan Macintosh calls the shape of such a bowl: a "bowl in traditional "shufu" shape."( page 18 ).

A Chinese Celadon Glazed Ribbed Jar and Cover. Circa, 14th Century, Yuan Dynasty.
Found in the Philippines.
Jar carved with vertical petal-like ribs and is topped with a round cover that has undulating edges and a ribbed petal-like dome. It is covered overall in a green celadon glaze, except for the base.
Measurements: height (3.5”inches or 9cm), width (3.9”inches or 10cm).
Condition: in perfect condition. No restorations. UV light checked...

A quite small dish with a very attractive deep molded floral decoration, covered with a intensive green Sancai glaze. Late Yuan Dynasty, Quanzhou Kiln of Fujian Province. Diameter : 10,6 cm. Condition : Some small negigible glaze imperfection, no crack, no chip.

A Chinese, qingbai glazed, bowl with incised decoration of boys amongst floral scrolls; Southern Song dynasty. The glaze is an attractive pale bluish-green colour.
Diameter, 20 cm.
Provenance: From the Hurdle collection of early Chinese ceramics.
Condition: A couple of short tight hairlines eminating from the rim. Some age related wear.
