Four(4) Japanese Imari Porcelain Soba Noodle Cups, Ca. late Edo to early Meiji period, mid 1800's, 2 5/8" high, 4" square-top rim, shaped square top rim with overglaze Comical figures on dark Red divided panels on four(4) sides, underglaze blue flying crane decoration on the bottom enclosed with blue decorative rim on top inside the cup. One(1) cup has one(1) glaze hairline about 1" long, barely visible, and some sand marks while firing in the kiln inside the cups.

Well cast Japanese Edo period round-form bronze kagami (mirror) decorated in relief with a motif of cranes among pines. The perforated central boss, which is designed to hold a tassel, is in the form of a minogame (tortoise). Two cranes reach toward each other with their beaks to kiss the head of the tortoise. Marked "Tenka" (all under Heaven) at the lower right. This decorative motif has been attributed to the Momoyama period (16th/17th century)...

Chinese Famille Jaune Porcelain Ginger jar,7" high, 7 1/2" wide-widest middle section, 2 3/4" diameter-top rim, 5 5/8" diameter-bottom, Ca. 1920, with overglaze famille Jaune design with Chinese Happiness characters with Bats on top and bottom inside four(4) Cartouches and Peony flowers decorated outside. There are some glaze crazing and scratches on the surface.

Each saki cup of this set of 6 has hand painted flower or foliage in the inside. The set is Japanese lacquerware from Meiji period.

19th century Edo period (before 1867) Japanese porcelain Hirado plate with scalloped edge and underglaze blue decoration of a dragon in pursuit of a tama (Sacred Gem). Excellent potting, milky white body and clear glaze. Great early painting with charming freedom, wonderful dynamic design - see the flames issuing from the body of the dragon. Some surface wear as to be expected, overall in great condition. Diameter 7 1/4 inches.

Made from ox horn, and shaped into a perfectly balanced shoehorn, this antique Chinese folk art artifact serves in both form and function. There is a delicately carved design on the back. The handle part of the horn has eyes carved so that the piece takes the shape of an animal and there is a hole carved so that the shoehorn can be hung from a cord. I vaguely remember hearing that the Chinese inventing the shoehorn, but have not been able to verify this as historic fact.

Six(6) Japanese Imari Porcelain Soba Noodle Cups, Ca. mid 1800's, late Edo or Early Meiji period, 2 3/8" diameter-top rim, 1 3/4" high, decorated with blue and white and some green and red, Lotus, Peony and some other floral and foliage in the Rock Garden. One(1) glaze hairline on the cup, outside only, not inside, two(2) or three(3) frits on the rim of the cup.

An actor in street attire standing in front of a row of shops and tea houses by Osaka artist Sadahiro (active 1830-1851) dating circa 1845. A pupil of Kunisada, Sadahiro's woodblock prints were published in Osaka in the 1830's and 1840's. The seal of the publisher Iseya Sensaburo appears on the actor's head. The artist's signature is in black ink at the lower left. Exceptional color and impression with lacquer highlights on the edge of the inner kimono and mica in the background...

Authentic 19th century Edo period Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) titled “View of the Precincts of Zojo-ji in Shiba” from the series of “Famous Places in the Eastern Capital” (Toto Meisho) published by Sanoki in the mid-1830s. Signed and with the artist's red seal at the upper right. The series and image titles are within the red cartouche at the upper right...

This is hand painted imari plate 7 7/8 in diameter is in very good condition with no damage. It has nice hand painted work from Edo 18 th century Mark to the bottom If you have any question please let me know

19th century miniature Hirado porcelain sculpture of a karako (Chinese boy) lying on his back, the upper part of his body raised up. Could have been used as a brushrest. Excellent crisp modeling with incised details - see his wonderful face, well defined hands and clothing details. Beautiful glaze with numerous tiny bubbles giving it depth, unglazed bottom, in excellent condition, very pleasant to the touch. Typical Hirado underglaze blue and brown highlights. Length 2 3/8 inches.

1300s/1400s

Decorated under the glaze with stylized patterns and concentric circles in iron oxide. Skillfully wheel-thrown and rests on a slightly flaring foot. Well-formed lid is surmounted by a circular knop with a yellowish-brown iron glaze. The interior and foot are unglazed. There are minor areas of glaze degradation on the top of the lid from burial. Some minor wear, small old chips to the interior lip of the bowl. Some evidence of burial earth remaining...

19th century netsuke made out of a natural piece of stag antler inlaid with a silver chrysanthemum flower. Wonderful design in Japanese taste with understated elegance, beautiful texture to the material, great patina, in excellent condition. Length 1 1/5 inches.

Japanese Meiji period "omocha-e" (toy picture) woodblock print illustrating various kitchen and restaurant products and furnishings available in the late 19th century. Chefs and waitresses are demonstrating their use. The title and artist's name (unidentified) are in black ink at the top margin. The publisher's information and the date of Meiji 15 (1882) is in the lower right margin. Vertical oban print measuring 14 1/2"V x 9 5/8"H (image: 13 1/4"V x 9"H)...

Delicately carved with a floral motif, is horn was used to give domestic animals medicine. It is Chinese ethnic minority probably from Inner Mongolia. Horn is about 6" long and has small chip at the end of the bowl. It is a wonderful ethnographic piece for the tribal arts collector
