This piece is in one of the eight prescribed peach bloom shapes that were designed for the scholar’s table. The base is marked with a properly written six character Kangxi mark in underglaze blue. This pot is well-potted in conformance with the shape of these vessels, rising from a slightly demarked foot visible on the outside as a light trimming line. The walls bulge outward and turn in at the shoulder which rounds to a depressed mouth opening...

This shallow bowl-shaped dish is set on a high foot with the characteristic Nabeshima comb pattern encircling it. The interior is painted with a design of chrysanthemums in cobalt blue of clear, rich tone. This piece, probably made in southern China is glazed on the outside overall except the base and base with a lustrous translucent emerald green glaze. Well-potted brushpot with a very carefully painted dragon and fish design in a deep sepia-toned enamel that is slightly raised on the biscuit-fired background. Like the exterior, the interior is also unglazed. The base is slightly recessed and marked with a spurious six-character Xuande mark. This piece most likely dates to the Guangxu period, 1875-1908. There are a total of 5 different dragon, mythical birds and elephant head depicted on this final end...

Circa 1680, this is one of the earliest examples of a Kakiemon sake bottle, rectangular in shape, 10.625" in height. Decorated in iron-red, yellow, green, aubergine, and black enamel, the four sides portray pine, bamboo, plum blossoms and peonies among clouds, with sprays of stylized lotus and scrolling karasuka upon the shoulders.

Condition: Early gold lacquer repair and cracks.

A pair of Japanese lacquered iron abumi (stirrups) decorated in gold lacquer on a roiro ground with Ni-o, also known as Kongo Rikishi with delicate scrolling background, the interior in red lacquer. Edo period (probably 17th century). 11 1/8" high, 4 3/4" wide, 12" long.

Large Japanese antique processional temple cart, base made of keyaki (elm) wood with copper hardware, drum is also made of keyaki wood with a large brass rooster on top, wonderful condition (wheels roll!), lovely carving and lacquer detail, unusual and striking! Meiji/ Taisho Period (early 20th century). Size: 90" high x 69" long x 42 1/2" deep.

Among Canton enamels a never seen quality like this. The images do not show that, but the full beauty of the small ornaments on this very small tray ( 11 cm. X 12,5 cm. ) you only can regard with a magnifying glass. But not just the execution of the ornaments is outstanding, please regard alone the face of this young woman in the center of the piece. By regarding this piece in nature it is to see, that the quality of this Canton piece is outstanding and at least as good as the best examples...

A bronze tripod censer with elephant form feet made during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795). There is no cover and the handles have been removed. A rare Dehua 'Blanc de Chine' porcelain figure group depicting two kneeling women and a crucifix - made in the 18th Century for export to Europe. An identical piece - part of the P J Donnelly bequest - is currently on display in the British Museum.
