A Japanese porcelain “100 Boys” plate, 18th century.

This unusual plate was made in Arita between 1720 and 1760. It shows a hall crammed with boys, an elevated youthful figure surrounded by attendants, two of which are carrying fans. To me it looks like the interior of a temple with children depicting the abbot and gathering of monks.
