He peeps through from a hole while his right arm sticks out from the other hole. There are two small kernels of rice on his bony back. A third kernel which should be on the side of the box is missing. The workmanship is superb. It is carved from unknown hard wood and is not signed...

He is carrying a basket of vegetables, and a small double gourd tied on his back. His right hand is missing; there are some chips on his nose, sleeves and both shoes.

It depicts a smiling boy holding a puppy in front of him. The workmanship is superb. Besides a tiny chip on the back of the robe, it is in excellent.

This mid 19th century Chinese jade (nephrite) carving is 3 ½ inches long, 2 inches tall and 2 inches wide. It depicts two monkeys resting on a reclining horse. In Chinese culture, this is a very popular subject in that it is a visual representation of a pun. The pronunciation of monkey ¡°HOU¡± is the same with ¡°nobility¡± or ¡°officer¡±. ¡°On top of a horse¡± is pronounced ¡°MA SHANG¡± which is the same as ¡°right away¡± or ¡°immediately¡±...

The two Chinese bamboo root carvings are about 12 inches tall, 5 inches wide and 4 inches thick. They came as a pair but can be displayed separately. They were carved in the late 19th century. Both depict wild geese. Their heads are turned toward a lotus and some unknown plants are behind them. The taller of the two is a little darker. Beside some small cracks and chips they are in fairly good condition.

This late 19th century Chinese white jade (nephrite) dragon head shape buckle is 3 inches long, ¾ inch wide and ¾ inch thick. There are a few small chips and flaw on the side of the body.

One side is carved as a double gourd and a small heart-shaped leaf, the other side is a carving of two legendary animals facing each other. It is in excellent shape.

This mid or late 19th century Chinese carved root sculpture is 25 inches tall (with base), 11 inches wide and 3 ½ inches deep. One side carved as a maple tree and rock, the other side retains the natural form of the roots. The fitted hard wood base depicts a pine tree surrounded with rocks. It depicts a blue orchid, two pink roses, an unknown yellow flower and a blue beetle with white spots on a turquoise background. It has yellow-green bottom and three legs. This tray was part of a private collection which was on display in 1970 at ¡°The China Institute in America¡± in New York...

This Chinese ivory court tablet is an extremely rare piece. It is a late Ming Dynasty (1368~1642) product. It is almost 19 ½ inches long, ¼ inch thick, 3 inches wide on one end and 2 inches wide on the other end. There are quite a few hairline cracks, several small chips and one repaired split.

This late 19th century Chinese carved ivory doctor¡¯s lady is 4 inches long, 1 inch wide and 1 inch thick. Her right hand is leaning on her head and her left hand is resting on her chest. There is a dark line (the center of the tusk) running the length of her side. Her whole body has slightly yellowed due to the age of the piece. She is in excellent condition.

This snuff bottle is molded in the form of a wine pot which is secured in a woven basket. It is inscribed with the wine maker¡¯s name De Run Zheng and the name of the wine Zhuang Yuan Hong. The seal mark is Yong Zheng period but is considered as Tong Zhi or Guang Xu period (1862~1908). It is 3 inches tall and 1 ¾ inches at the widest part. Beside some small chips on the woven part, it is in good condition.

This Chinese calligraphy couplet was written by late 19th century Chinese scholar and government official XU SHICHANG. Both scrolls are 16 inches wide and 64 inches long and in good condition. The calligraphy measures 12 ½ inches wide and 52 inches long. Mr. Xu was born 1854 in Tianjing City and died 1939. During the late Qing Dynasty, he was appointed by the Qing Emperor as Viceroy of Manchuria and an official scholar of Ti-Ren Ge (royal chamber or cabinet)...

This early 20th century carved ivory Buddha statue (Japanese called Hotai) is 6 ¼ inches tall, 3 ¾ inches wide and 3 ¼ inches in depth. The whole statue was carved from one solid ivory tusk. The left hand of the Buddha is holding a small fan; his right hand is resting on his knee. He wears a twisted necklace and earrings and has a big smile on his face. This is not like a traditional Buddha image; it is more of an off center imagination from the artist...

The Chinese Tang Dynasty iron stele is 7 ½ inches tall and 5 ½ inches wide. A Buddhist design is on one side; calligraphy is on reverse. Most of the calligraphy has worn off, but some characters are still legible. It looks like it was made to honor one family¡¯s ancestor. There is a date to indicate it was made during second year of ¡°Zhi De¡±(757 A.D.) of the Tang Dynasty. The old coin style base (stand) is cast iron and was made to fit the stele later. This pair of enameled glass brush holders carries a wild geese and grass design. They are 5 ¼ inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. They came in blue brocade fitted boxes. Both have a ¡°Qian Long¡± (1736~1795) mark on the bottom. Near the date mark there is a red wax seal which indicates they were exported from mainland China. The color and the design are great. Both are in perfect condition.

This Chinese Ming Dynasty (1368~1615) bronze temple guardian is 14 ½ inches tall. The four characters on chest read ¡°pass to the heavenly gate¡±. The weapon he carried is missing. It is in good condition.

Early 20th century Chinese fine famille-rose vase is 8 ½ inches tall and 4 ¾ inches on the widest part. It depicts five children playing. It has a Qian Long mark on the bottom. However, we assume the mark is fictitious. It is beautifully painted and in good condition except for a tiny flaw on the rim.

Chinese Guang Xu period (1875~1908) Wucai vase is 9 inches tall. The vase came from the Warren Cox collection, New York. It depicts two flower vessels which are separated by calligraphy. Studio mark Cha Yi Xing on the bottom. It is in great condition.

Late 19th or early 20th century Japanese satsuma bowl is 2 ½ inches tall and 7 inches in diameter. It has a magnificent insect and floral design on both the interior and exterior. It has an old repair on the rim and a small hairline crack. Signed.
