An attractive pair of Yoruba Ibeji twin figures probably carved circa 1900-1930. Condition - there is an age crack to the male figure and half of the base of the female figure is missing. Male figure 7.8 inches (19.8cm) high, Female 7 inches (18cm) high.

This antique Korean serving tray would have been used for serving tea or individual meals. The signature characters on the bottom are followed by the symbol for "student", presumably the tray was carved by an apprentice. The bottom also has rough darken areas for a more secure gripping surface and shallow attached feet which also have rough bottoms.

The sign advertises the office of "James H. Groom. Dentist.", and remains in fine condition with rich, deep-toned, original patina and some very minor warping due to its many years of age. The lettering is actually impressed into the surface and is painted black...

This is a northern Song dynasty green glazed bowl. It stands on a foot rim with a recess base exposing the light buff colour stoneware and then extending upwards with a C-shaped rounded body with a rounded rim like a lip. On the cavetto, it is incised with four bud of swirling flowers with lightly combed designed in between and the centre of the bowl.

The only differences between this matching pair of Japanese woman's hair combs are the very slight details in the hand-painted design and the size and spacing of the tines. A trio of silver wired cloisonne red crowned cranes flies through goldstone clouds on the shoulder of this 4.5" emerald green basse-taille cloisonne vase. Splashing waves are incised in the silver body, the mark of Kumeno Teitaro is impressed on the base.

This is a Tang dynasty funerary sancai or tri-colour tea cup set. It has a tray with seven cups on it. All the items stand on a flat base. The tri-colour is green, beige and amber, both in long streak partially outside and inside of the tray and tea cup.

There is no repair or restoration, some abrasion and bubble burst. Some expected degradation, chips & minor losses as a consequence of long period of burial and subsequent cleaning. Overall, all the items are in good condition.

A magnificent sterling silver claret spoon by Dominick & Haff. This example is strikingly decorated in a pattern representing three different varieties of chrystanthemums. The decoration appears to be loosely based on Dominick & Haff's "#10" pattern, though this is much more ornate. The area around the flowers is intricately pierced in the rococo style. A nice coin silver rattail spoon by John Brown, active in Baltimore from 1799, after apprenticing in Philadelphia. The bowl is rather narrow, suggesting it was to be used as a pap spoon. The spoon must have been an early piece from Brown's shop, as the design is quite clearly drawn from late 18th century styles. The three-letter monogram in a bright-cut cartouche is also characteristic of the period. The back is marked with Brown's punch.

These 3 bobbins aka thread holders would have been used in China when hand sewing was the major activity of the women of the house. Each bobbin was individually carved and each has a small ball which moves freely within the carved slot. This is a qingpai ewer or jug from the Song Dynasty. The qingapi ewer is of sea greenish hue. It stands on a recess 2 tier base with a curving body of a baluster or bulbous shape extending towards a flatten shoulder and then a mildy everted neck and mouth. The body is also lightly incised with some form of design. This is a shipwreck item.

This is a nice small qingpai jarlet from the Song Dynasty. The qingpai colour is of sky blue hue. It stands on a flat base with a ribbed body with a shoulder towards the mouth rim. On the shoulder it has a ring of lotus leave life lappet.

This old wooden dragon was hand carved with an expressive face and large black eyes. He balances nicely with his tail on a short pedestal. Gripping his prized pineapple in his paws, he licks it with his tongue, clearly relishing the sweet taste. The pineapple has a short hollow plug on top to provide for an incense stick.
