Antique wooden lusong (mortar). This lusong was used with a lomok (pestal) by the B'laan people to pound rice in order to separate the grain from the husks. The B'laan people are indigenous of Southern Mindanao in the Philippines. This lusong is especially large and beautifully carved of a single piece of hardwood. This soft pale pink colored antique Chinese silk skirt is from the late 1800's. The traditional floral embroidery is mainly uses satin stitch technique with the large flower in the center of the front and rear panels use Peking knots. An antique Japanese Byobu screen in 2 panels depicting a Cherry Blossom tree with Bamboo and a full moon on a spring evening. Artist signed and painted in a Sumi-e technique over Gofun paper, he has sprinklings of gold specks to give the illusion of the last tidbits of sunlight fading into an evening moon.
