This is a nice small southern Song dynasty (1127-1279) qingpai funerary grain storage house. It stands on a slightly short footrim with a recess base. The outer ring of the footrim is shaved inward. From the footrim, it slightly curved outwards to a bulb like body with a wide open mouth rim. The cover of the jar has a tradition Chinese rooftop design. The top of the roof has a ruyi like or cloud design and the four corners of the roof has a raised tile and at the end it, it curved back upward...

Tall late 18th to early 19th century wooden netsuke of a standing emaciated sennin wearing a tattered robe and leaf skirt and cape and holding onto a very long staff with gnarled top. Awesome face, wonderful knobby scull, beautiful rendition of his hair, ribs and limbs. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - gold lacquer over red, so as the netsuke wears the color of a lower layer starts showing. Antique Korean Bandaji known as a blanket storage trunk, made of a heavy Red Pine wood with a deep rich original patina. An antique Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest) made of kiri (paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including stylized gumbai handles. Two sliding kiri wood panels framed in black lacquer over two large drawers for safe keeping of inventory. Iron drawer corners feature raised seed pods suggesting this chest originated in the Yonezawa region of Japan.
