Pair of Japanese Meiji Period Wood Kitchen Gods, Daikoku and Ebisu. 8 inches, 20 cm and 7.5 inches, 19 cm. Daikoku, God of Earth and Agriculture, stands on bales of rice and wields his magic mallet. Ebisu, God of Ocean and Prosperity, holds a large red sea bream tucked under his arm. This fish is an ancient symbol of good luck in Japan. Daikoku and Ebisu often appear together in the Japanese kitchen...

6 different Kamavacca leaves, each 55 x 11 cm. Reasonable condition. Undated, estimated to be late 19th century. Can be viewed in central London by arrangement.

Antique Japanese boxwood okimono carving of Shoki, the Demon Queller, commander of evil spirits and beings, shown holding onto a small demonic figure by the wrist. He is a popular figure in the household as a guardian. Intricately carved details apparent all throughout. Signature on foot reads "Sei Gyoku". Meiji period (1868-1912) Size: 6.5" H x 3.5" L x 3" D

Intricately hand carved Chinese plant stand with a scalloped edged marble inset. In excellent original antique condition with a beautiful warm patina, it measures 36 inches high, 21 inches outside center diameter, 13.5" across top. Circa 1860

Old growth Keyaki used for the entire construction. Very heavy and solid in weight. Chinese late Qing to Republic period camphor wood trunk densely carved with relief lotus flowers. Incised brass circular front lock plate. Circa 1900 to early 20th century. 31" long x 14" wide x 13" high. Very good, solid overall condition. There is a small separation in the wood at one of the front edges and a minor loss at one back corner revealing the tip of a tiny old nail (see closeup images)...

Important Edo Period C.1850 scroll painting of Kannon holding `Yatagarasu` the divine crow and messenger to the gods. Symbolizes the sun and like the sacred phoenix resides in the celestial realm. A mark of rebirth and rejuvenation. Yatagarasu as a crow-god is a symbol specifically of guidance. This great crow was sent from heaven as a guide for Emperor Jimmu on his initial journey from the region which would become Kumano to what would become Yamato, (Yoshino and then Kashihara)...

Antique Japanese scroll painting of the wrathful guardian deity Fudo Myo-O standing along the edge of a cliff. His two fangs poke out of his mouth pointing in opposite directions. The sword he wields is named Kurikara, the demon slayer. The rope he holds in his opposite hand is used to bind demons. A ring of purifying flames burns around his backside. Antique Japanese noh theatre mask of the character Ko-Omote, a youthful girl. Very unusual that this mask is made of ceramic instead of carved from wood. Beautifully painted with red lips and blackened teeth, joyful eyes and dark hair with four loose strands, very important defining characteristics to tell each mask apart. The backside is signed in-between her eyes and has been affixed with parts for displaying the mask. Edo Period (circa 1800's) Size: 8" H x 5" W x 2.5" D
