A Fine/Rare Korean Enameled (七寶) Butterfly-Shape Silver Head Pin-19th C.: Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century. Framed. The head pin terminal cast with a butterfly shaped and floral leaf designed and painted in bright enamel(七寶), blue, red, green, yellows, etc. the cylindrical silver bar ends with an old black patina. It is in very good condition with a professional frame done, It measures 9cm long, 21cm x 27cm frame.

Antique Nepalese Bronze Bodhisatva seated on lotus throne. Depicted lovely and delicate detailing with five pointed crown headdress with small head on deer on left shoulder. Hands raised in prayer, hand holding lotus and other had holding rope. Unusual imagery on back of lotus throne of conch shell and running deer. Detachable base from figure.

A good underglaze blue decorated transitional style jar of a type which was produced in Jingdezhen over a long period, from the Wanli through to the end of the Chongzheng reign, for both the export and the internal markets. Condition - there is old restoration to the rim and there is a firing crack (please see enlargements 4 and 6)...

Nice quality Ming Dynasty Jiajing ( 1522 - 1566 ) bowl . Nearly perfect condition with only one very short hairline . Diameter : 12 cm.

This wonderful Edo period antique Japanese tobacco box is made of wood and covered with lacquer which is now seriously aged. In the middle of the lid is small sculptured detail. The box has the original cord and horn tip toggle, and still contains tobacco. Circa 1860's this box is 4.5" x 2.5" x 3" high. It is truly a piece of old ethnographic folk art from Japan's Edo period.

Length approximately 17cm (across the handles). Cleaned and polished. In good condition.

A Very Rare/Fine Blue and White Bottle: Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century The domed body with everted spout and slightly recessed foot, painted with bat and floral plants alternated on the body in under glaze blue, the spout applied with blue tinged white glaze overall. It’s in very fine condition without any damages but age scratches. It measurem 8cm H. x 7.5cm D (3 1/8” x 3”)

Little distorted half cylinder shaped tea bowl made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical shino glaze inside and outside with a fine dark greyish triangle design. This is a typical late Momoyama design. The somewhat irregular foot is typical for the late production of the 1620-ies at the Motoyashiki and Kamagane kilns.

A beautiful and very functional pair of black lacquer wooden cabinets with detailed court scenes. The cabinets can be stacked as pictured or positioned separately and perhaps placed under windows. As separately standing pieces, they can be used for extra seating with the simple addition of a few throw pillows or cushions. They can also be positioned back to back to serve as a large coffee table. The cabinets’ interiors are painted red and there is a red flower painted on each side...

A two drawer Japanese box done in a kinji or gold background with fine paintings of pine and flowers with a family crest set in the open areas of the piece. The box has metal fittings for the drawers and a handle to carry the chest. Often lacquer works with family crests were made for dowries for high ranking samurai families. A Japanese "arrow toss" game vase made of copper and decorated with polychrome enamels, the rims and wires are gilt. Showing antiques and auspicious symbols on a white ground, the base with "fuku" mark. The "arrow-toss" game originated from China and was at the beginning very popular with the aristocrats and survived as a pastime well into the Edo period. From an old Swiss private collection. Condition: few traces of usage, the mouth rim is inside a bit bent (see pict. 12)...

A circular dish with slightly everted rim decorated with a landscape freize to the cavetto. The pattern is split into equal halves, by a zigzagging screen wall on one side, and an S shaped motif with ruyi cloud shaped motifs. The first portion of the design shows a pair of scholar’s playing Go sitting beneath a Bodri Tree set in a landscape with a scholar’s refuge cum tea house and oddly oversized autumn flowers, kikyo, bell flowers, and suisen, Japanese narcissus...

Urn-shaped earthenware vase with decoration of a lady and a boy dancing. Subtle crackle-glaze in shades of peach and pink, with gilt and white moriage (slip) articulations on an olive-green background. Unmarked, but with Japanese handwriting on sticker. Meiji period (1868-1912). There is a drilled hole to the base, for a lamp wire. Height "9½/ 25 cm. Condition: fine. Please note that the white patches near the foot rim on the photos are just reflexions.

Antique Japanese inro, makie designs of phoenix (ho-o bird) on black lacquer. These large inro are sometimes referred to as sumo wrestler's inro, written "Kahei nuri". The last letter (kao like) is probably "nuri" which means painted or coated with. To roughly quote the Wrangham Index of Inro Artists – according to Soken Kisho, Kahei was a mysterious makie artist that lived in Kyoto during the 18th century. He was prominent enough to have his work called Kahei–nuri, after his name...

19th century bronze netsuke in a shape of a double gourd. Nicely made, very pleasant brown patina, swinging loop around its waist for hanging. Fixed brass stopper to its neck. Length 2.21 inches.
