Chinese carved Ivory old scholar Toggle, with gentle happy smile in his face, Ca. 1800's, 3 1/8" high, 1 3/8" x 1 1/4" wide, nicely naturally aged with hairline and old patina. The condition is good.

This antique iron candle holder was sourced from Shanxi province China. From a peasants home, it could be set on a table or hung on a wall. It is an interesting ethnographic folk art relic.

DESCRIPTION: A fine Chinese boxwood water-well basket toggle, intricately carved in an acorn shape with a realistic and detailed basket weave pattern with carved wood rim. The arched overhead handle has a free-carved wood ring attached; the interior is hollowed out. Excellent condition, a beautiful toggle, 19th C. This antique pair of wooden spoons were hand carved and delicately shaped. The handles are deeply arched and the ends are painted with a gilded paint. They were heavily covered with a clear lacquer finish.

Late 19th century Chinese scholar jadeite seal made out of a slice of a jadeite boulder. The impression of the seal is shown on the first photo (image is flipped left to right to present the image as it will actually print on paper). Natural untreated jadeite of pleasing green color, polished sides, original skin of the boulder along the top. The bottom is carved with four sunken characters, traces of red seal paste in the grooves. Wonderful austere piece appropriate for a scholar’s desk...

Amida (Amitabha) - "The Buddha of Immeasurable Light and Life” - is the principal buddha in Pure Land Buddhism. Excellent carving of his facial expression of quiet meditation, beautiful rhythm to the flow of the folds of his robe, remnants of gold lacquer on his hair.
