Lovely Chinese basket most likely woven by the Zhuang or another of the many ethnic minorities in Guangxi Zhuang, China where I bought this over 20 years ago. This woven from split reed stalks and has a nice soft feel to it. This piece is quite old, 50 to 100 years (best guess). It has an unusual trapezoidal/oval shape and I like it for its sturdy simplicity. Minor unraveling of some of the weaves here and there but in very good condition given it age...

Cornet-shaped, in bronze with a brown patina, it rests on 3 feet scalloped in foaming waves rising towards a base decorated with other waves. The body is also decorated in its center with an openwork knot of vine branches and bunches of grapes. The neck is widely flared into a floral corolla. Signed Toto Hidemitsu Kansei under the base. Height: 39.5 cm.

Rhyton, of conical shape, decorated at its base with the bust of a ram. Geometric design incised all over the body of the object. Bronze, with fine reddish-green age patina and traces of soil encrustations. Bactrian Civilisation, ca. 4th century B.C. Height: 15.3 cm. The piece is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Very good condition.

A bronze and ivory okimono depicting a street entertainer playing the shamisen, a Japanese musical instrument. The player wears a traditional kimono, rests his right foot on his box which he carries along with his umbrella on his traveling journey. It is signed Jōnan 城南 with engraving on the bronze. This is a fine example of an Indus Valley culture decorated pottery vessel. It has a chip to the rim as well as a repair which should be visible in the photos. Otherwise it appears to be in great condition with no other apparent damage or repair. It is roughly 16 cm tall and 13 cm wide.

Japanese carved staged antler netsuke, exhibiting a carving of somewhat double gourd form with hollow interior, late 19th century period, length of 2 1/8 inches, in very good condition.

This elegant looking yingqing incense burner, from the late Song dynasty, is round in shape at the top like a ball with a double fluted flange as the supporting base. The cover is a semi-circle with intricately designed holes for the incense smoke to pass through.

There are some small manufacturing defects as seen in photograph 5. There are also many tiny bubble bursts indicated by the minute brown dots over the general surface of the body of the incense burner as in photograph 5...

A Beautiful unusual Japanese display cha dana tansu, with 3 sets of sliding Keyaki burl front panels with copper handle pulls, 11 drawers with iron warabite handles, and an open compartment with shelves for the display of tea ceremony articles.
