A rare large inscribed heart scarab, Late Kingdom, after 660 BC.

The heart scarab carved in a redish type of sandstone or perhaps a type of red stoneware, glazed with an almost perfectly intact dark green gaze. Made as a somewhat cheaper alternative to the green basalt hardstone scarabs of the period. Finely inscribed on the base with 6 lines of hieroglyphs, tradionally with passages from the Book of Death, but untranslated by us.

This porcelain plate was produced in England by Mintons in 1893. There is an impressed date cipher indicating this year. The plate is signed by the renowned artist Antonin Boullimier. It is #7 in a series of 12 plates. It measures 9 1/4 inches. The delicate bone china has an unusual reticulated border. This porcelain chamber stick or candle holder was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg in the 1890s. It has both impressed shield and printed marking. It measures 4 3/4 inches in diameter and is 2 inches tall. The decoration is elaborate tapestry of flowers, ribbons and gold. The hand painting is precise and extremely fine. The colors are vivid and the gilding is bright. It is a lovely reminder of the past.

It was believed being used as a stone weight in 6th century to 9th century.
Well carved in vivid look, the piece was left on the suface with ancient residues in the crevices of the limbs.
The stone quality was in greasy and smooth feel.

Han-juban, short under kimono, made of hand-spun cotton and dyed with benibana (safflower). The dye technique is Beni-itajime which is board-clamp dye. The cloth is folded in some layers between two boards which are pattern carved and generally about 12 boards are used to dye about 22m length of cloth. Beni-itajime was mostly dyed in Kyoto until the end of Edo period but it was practiced in other places later. The lining is also hand-spun cotton and vegetable indigo dye. In excellent condition...
