A fine old antique gold frame of the 19th century, measuring 27" by 34" by 3" depth, the inner rabbet 18 1/2" by 25 1/2". This frame certainly at one time held a fine painting; there is some hint of there having been a placard. Weight is an impressive 20 pounds; the wood used I believe is heavy oak. There is much evidence of age, moderate wear; but it is in keeping with the age and antiquity of the frame. Currently there is a modern print of a Picasso work inserted into the opening.

The mythical birds represents fire, sun, justice, obedience, fidelity, and the southern constellations. The phoenix also symbolizes the imperial household, specifically the empress. Chinese dragon robe woven with 8 dragons (3 on the front, 3 on the back, and 1 on each shoulder). Dragons and Taoist symbols woven in silver on a blue silk ground. Black silk sleeves and collar are also woven with silver dragons. The robe is lined in blue silk.

Princes or noblemen were permitted to wear blue (the Qing Dynasty’s official color) while blue-black fabric indicated the wearer was a court official.

A very fine and rare Bow porcelain chocolate cup with the "Golfer and Caddy" pattern. The cup of tall "U" Shape with a strap handle. The interior with a wavy border, the handle with a flowering plant, and the base with a "2" workman's mark.

The overall condition is excellent, with only an invisibly done museum quality repair to a small interior rim flake. This wonderful example looks much better in person than the photos show. Cup height is 2 7/8" with a 2 3/4" diameter.
