Stunning 2nd Empire pink opaline glass chalice with gilt and enamel decoration. The outside surface has a matte finish except along the lip, the foot rim and the knop rim, each of which is decorated with gilt lines. The primary decoration, however, fills nearly the entire surface with built-up layers of gilding accented with black enamel. The base has a slightly concave polished pontil.

Distorted half cylinder shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl made of little iron bearing, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body, trimmed with a potters knife (hera) is covered with the typical, glossy black iron oxide inside and outside. Here it is a rarely seen dark brown due to a lack of manganese.
A window on the side has been left unglazed for decoration in iron oxide engobe under a clear ash glaze in a form of straight and wavy lines. This is a typical Momoyama design.
A lovely art glass cabinet vase with cameo decoration in the “Thistle” pattern by Daum. The glass has elegant mottled coloring with dark peach and amber. The rim and foot are enhanced with gilt edging. The bottom of the base is signed in gilt script and bears the cross of Lorraine. This example is finely carved and makes very nice use of the layers of color.

A French faience pot de crème / custard pot, c 1760, ribbed and decorated with flowers in petit feu enamels. A nice quality early Eighteenth century Japanese Imari export bowl decorated in underglaze blue, kinsai gilding and iron red. The exterior of the bowl painted with overlapping symmetrically arranged trefoil and peach shaped reserves, each containing a delicately painted kacho-ga motif of shiragiku, white asters, and pheasants and chrysanthemums, kiku ni kiji, traditional autumnal motifs. The interior decorated with further sprays of aster flowers and cherry blossom within the well of the bowl.
