A lidded Japanese Imari porcelain vase, finely painted with landscape cartouches and Ho-o birds among brocade pattern and peonies. With 19th century French bronze mountings, the pedestal composed of four nicely modelled elephant heads and heart shaped bordure, which is repeating on the rim ring. A rare and unusual turquoise glazed, pottery gu form altar vase. Its moulded decoration depicts two dragons amongst clouds on the upper section ; on the waist are two ruyi bands and on the unglazed lower section are two cash symbols and what appears to be a double gourd. This is a humorous Japanese sake cup. The drinker would find that he has drunk from the face of Okame while others would see the other side of the cup with oni's (ogre) face and would have a laugh. All typical Japanese humor from the Meiji Period (1868-1912). 2 3/4 inches in diameter and 1 inch tall (slightly less) at the horn and jaw.

An impressive early Pewter Stein, Germany, dated 1798 on the lid, but probably made much earlier in the 18th. century.

Profusely decorated over the entire surface with frases / sayings and images of Crowned Guild symbolics, a heart and a crowned cross etc. The lid also engraved with a owners name - MARGRETA JURGSEN 1794.

With German Pewter touchmarks, perhaps dating it 1733 (?).

A Victorian Folding Muffin Stand in Ebonized Oak; American circa 1880. Dimensions 35.5" high x 12.25" deep. Good condition.

A lovely cobalt blue blown glass hyacinth or bulb vase in the classic cone shape. The flared rim was intended to hold a hyacinth or other bulb just above the water line to root. Forcing bulbs was a popular Victorian pursuit and hyacinth vases were lovely adornments for kitchen and conservatory windows. The quality of glass is very good and cobalt blue is a desirable color. The bottom has a sheared pontil.

19th century Edo period Goto school Japanese kashira (metal pommel at the end of the hilt of a sword) with multimetal relief inlays depicting ra bird on a flowering branch. Superb quality crisp work, multiple inlays of copper, silver, shakudo and gold, is excellent condition. Finely textured ground called nanako, which means “fish-eggs” as it resembles fine rows of caviar. Extraordinary piece of Japanese metalwork. Length 1.4 inches.
