This 19th century deeply-carved small boxwood root brush holder (Bi Tong) is 5 ¼ inches high and 2 5/8 inches wide. The carver used the natural shape of the root to create a pine tree and plum blossom. The workmanship is great. The design, carving and polishing are all very well executed. The bottom was filled with softer wood. It is in excellent condition.

A fine snuff tobacco container made of a dried, double gourd, decorated with gilt silver mounts and inset with carnelian and tiny blue and white cabochons. This is a large green glazed Ming dynasty funerary figure modelled as a palaquin bearer or attendant. It stand on a step and waisted hexagonal plinth with six feet. The right hand and left hand of the palaquin bearer or attendant is seem to be holding onto a pole towards his chest with the long sleeve covering the arm, exposing only the hand. The slash at the waist is unglazed, exposing a slightly redish clay.
