Chinese thick Sancai glazed Pottery hanging Wall vase or wall pocket, Ca. early 1900's, 6 1/4" high, 5 1/4" wide, 2 3/4" deep, applied high relief Bird on the Fruit tree. Some thick glaze chipped off from the pottery main body.

Late Meiji Japanese Bizen pottery ware chaire (tea caddy for storing powdered green tea used in tea ceremony) with slender body of rounded triangular section and narrow mouth. Wonderful potting, beautiful patina, very nice texture and play of colors to the glaze on its surface. Inscribed by the potter on the bottom. Turned bone cover lined with silver colored foil on the inside. Great piece in excellent condition. Height with cover 3 3/8 inches.

Very unusual late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) Chinese scholar’s rock in a form of a natural mineral cluster wonderfully resembling a prickly pine tree. The stone is many-sided, providing different complete views. Beautiful object with extraordinary rich textured surface, fixed in newer fitted hardwood stand. I believe the mineral to be aragonite. Wonderful object for contemplation on scholar’s desk, beautiful patina. Height with stand 5 1/8 inches.

Lovely carved nephrite pendant with classic “cat on a leaf” motif. This piece has been re-carved to appear as the cat is sitting on a peapod (peapods being one of the myriad of Chinese symbols wishing one to have many children), but was really done to hide the damage on the sides of a larger leaf. This very well carved black and celadon jade (nephrite and jadeite) bead necklace is an early 20th century product. All the beads are well carved; it is quite possible this was a court necklace. After being restrung, it is a beautiful 31” long necklace now. It has 36 black beads and 4 celadon beads. The black beads are about 11/16” in diameter; the celadon beads are about 13/16” in diameter.
