This is a japanese antique boro patched of dark brown hemp Mosquito net fabric. It is an old mosquito net textile from the meiji era (1868-1911). The beautiful color of the persimmon tannin dye is slightly soft to the touch. The brown color of persimmon dyeing has changed beautifully over time. 19th century netsuke of an octopus wearing a jacket and towering over a monkey seated on an abalone shell. Unusual subject - normally they are wrestling, but here it does not seem to be the case - the monkey is smiling. 19th century netsuke depicting sitting Ashinaga (long legs) wearing European jacket and tiger skin pants. In Japanese legends he is often accompanied by Tenaga (long arms) whom he puts on his back and goes fishing. Very nice work, pleasant wear and patina turning honey color on the back where netsuke was touching the silk of kimono. Height 1 1/2 inches.

Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain covered box or jar with cover, Ca. 1850, 4 1/8" high, 4" wide-widest part, 3 7/8" diameter-top opening, drum shape box, top with raised nail head on the lower part of the box and the top. Overglaze Rose Medallion design inside the cartouches, the rest area is decorated with flowers, leaves and stylized flying bats in pink background enamel. The condition is good except very shallow flake chip the size of 1/8" wide inside the unglazed top rim area.

Rich green glaze covers this elongated delicate undulating bottle from the Kosugi-yaki tradition of the Kaga region near modern day Kanazawa city. This bottle is roughly 20 cm (8 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
Kosugi ware is a type of pottery that was produced in Kosugi Town over four generations for about 80 years, from around the early Bunka era (1810-1820) to the Meiji 20s (around 1890)...
