Description:
This is a Liao dynasty (907A.D - 1125 A.D) green glazed moulded pumpkin shaped covered box. The top and bottom of the covered box is moulded in sysmetrical lotus design. A very beautiful piece.

Condition:
Generally in good condition. Minor abrasion. There is no chip, crack, glaze crazing, repair or any restoration.

This pair of Chinese lotus shoes were made by a woman of limited finances. She bought what materials were needed for the vamp and supplemented with the use of rough home spun fabric scraps to cover the shaped heals and soles. The limited amount of expensive gold couching threads outlining the floral embroidery pattern on each side of the shoes indicates that this pair of lotus shoes would have used only for special occasions...

Very fine and rare statue of smiling Liu Hai dancing on a square base, with his three-legged toad at his feet. He is holding a vase in his left hand and a half coin in his right hand. Bronze, nice, partly encrusted green patina. China, Ming Dynasty. Height: 5 1/4" (13,3 cm). Very good condition.

Small iron lantern of rectangular format stretched in height with its base. The paper comes from a book page of classical Japanese literature. This writing is developed from the 8th century and is borrowed from the Chinese writing.

19th century framed Chinese textile embroidered rank badge (also called mandarin square) denoting the fifth civil rank symbolized by the bird on the badge - the Silver Pheasant. Did not photograph well - faint pinkish lines are from photography and the colors are brighter than they look on the images. DESCRIPTION: A large and handsome Sumida Gawa vase with ribbed body, high relief figures and pinched neck. A thick, traditional flambe' glaze in dark brown and blue covers the mouth and neck, and flows down the shoulders. Fine attention to detail has been paid to the handmade figures of a boy and girl standing on ledges against the ribbed body. Inoue (Ryosai) maker's mark in pear-shaped appliqué on the back. Early 20th C. (pre WWII) and in perfect condition; no chips or repairs...
