A monumental 60 cm tall floor vase, featuring comical and charming foo dogs at play and enameled in the famille verte palette. The reverse side features calligraphic verses, along with the artist's name and the year of creation...

Relief fragment in the shape of a Hindu deity head, the face reflecting a serene and slightly smiling expression. Sandstone. India, Ca. 15th century. Height: 6 1/2" (16,5 cm). The piece is mounted on a custom stand. Erosion due to great age, chipped nose, otherwise good condition.

Spectacular Meiji Period maru obi c.1900. Woven on both sides with a jacquard loom, the blue/green dyes make this a superb example of a Kyoto style obi. The motifs are fans with pine, plum, bamboo, chrysanthemum and cranes; all auspicious symbols of happiness and good fortune. Excellent condition. Can be made into table runners or hangings. Total length: 394cm woven on both sides. W:31 1/2cm. Ask for shipping quote.

A large Ming Dynasty porcelain dish decorated with floral scrolls in underglaze cobalt blue. Pieces of this kind were found at the LENA SHOAL JUNK. Such pieces are also to find in the Topkapi Museum and in some other excellent collections. Ming Dynasty, late 15th. to the early 16th. century. Diameter : 32,2 cm. Condition : Perfect !

An unusual moulded dish decorated with swirling ribbon like Shonsui brocades alternating with depictions of the Shochikubai. The central Mikomi decorated with a floral motif of two stylised flowers surrounded by a broad band of alternating cartouches in kakiwake style with auspicious objects, Chinese and Japanese Fans and a Whisk, and Cranes. The dish has a fuchi beni, iron brown glazed rim with no pattern to the reverse...

A Jiaqing mark and period circular dish, covered in a rich and bubbly cobalt blue glaze. Surface wear suggest that this dish had once been gilt-decorated with a dragon among clouds. The roughly written mark is typical for non-official wares of this period.

A rather striking Chinese derived pattern of Shou Lao and the Eight Immortals painted in a wucai, five colour, palette. The central mikomi painted with an amalgam of a Feiyu, Flying fish dragon, and a conventional dragon, rather than a true Feiyu, which would have had a pair of fins and fish tail rather than legs and conventional tail of this example. The border pattern is composed of auspicious cloud and sacred fungus motifs linked by a Karakusa arabesque...

A rather curious dish produced at the Shida kiln in Arita made for the Japanese domestic market that contains a rebus and the mon for the famous Kabuki actor Ichikawa Ebizo V, who was described as having the eye balls of a fresh Lobster from his characteristic wide eyed acting performances. It was presumably made for sale as a souvenir at the theatre...
