Offered is this beautiful cameo glass covered jar, made by Val St Lambert. The jar is 4 1/4 inches (10,5 cm) tall and 2 1/2 inches (6,5 cm) wide. It is in excellent condition (there are a couple of fabrication flaws: smooth, tiny dimples on the rim of the jar - see last picture). Properly signed (see picture).
The urn is made of very hard porcelain stoneware, the body and lid were turned. 5 cases were glued to the slip on the shoulder, as they are deeply hollow, without however crossing their support, I think that they must have served as a receptacle for incense sticks, a decoration of petals and stylized flowers is vigorously incised before firing, then covered with a cracked celadon glaze. A small bronze mirror with a diameter of 6.88cm (2.71 inches) and a total length of 12.1cm (4.8 inches) weighing a mere 42gm. Decorated with a Kano school asymmetric composition of a prancing Tiger and Bamboo probably having a common source to similar compositions found on Kakiemon porcelain. The mirror is signed Fujiwara. Very rare small celadon Yueyao lugged jar from a Zhejiang Kiln, circa Five Dynasties/Early Northern Song. This type of ceramic was a precursor to Longquan ware. There is a firing crack and some fritting (caused by pockets of air trapped beneath the glaze during firing) on one side- noted in enlargements. D: 9cm/3.5in and H: 6cm/24in.
A fine and early English saucer showing a Chinese man with a bird. Done in blue and white, lot 303 of the Bonham's sale of the famous and important Watney collection showed this same pattern and identified it as being William Reid porcelain.
The saucer is in excellent condition and is 4 7/8" in diameter.
NOTE: William Reid & Co. were porcelain makers in Liverpool between 1756-61. Their factory was situated on Brownlow Hill where a bone-ash porcelain was produced.

FinePair of Italian Grand Tour Bronze Candlesticks with nicely detailed foliate decoration and with good patina and fine castings. Having a removable ormolu drip pan above a bronze candle cup and supported by a turned and foliate decorated column with a tripartite scrolling ormolu base and mounted on a tripartite bronze plinth. This set of 6 crystal wine glasses was produced in the United States by one of the fine manufacturers in the 1890s. They are not signed; therefore we are unable to identify them precisely. Antique Japanese choba-ko tansu (small merchant's chest), made of natural Kiri (paulownia) hardwood (original finish). The chest holds a large open compartment with a single shelf behind two large doors, lined with 7 outer drawers. Each drawer opens by a squared, black iron handle. An antique Japanese Nihon Matsu Kasane (stacking chest on chest) Tansu made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite handles. Lock plates feature double Chrysanthemum knobs with flying butterfly security catch plates. Each handle has upper and lower Atari in the form of Plum blossoms.
