This piece is a fantastic specimen of Southeast Asian art from the 12-13th century Khmer culture. It was cleaned several years ago by the previous owner but does retain some of its original patina. Very unusual late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) Chinese scholar’s rock in a form of a natural mineral cluster wonderfully resembling a prickly pine tree. The stone is many-sided, providing different complete views. Beautiful object with extraordinary rich textured surface, fixed in newer fitted hardwood stand. I believe the mineral to be aragonite. Wonderful object for contemplation on scholar’s desk, beautiful patina. Height with stand 5 1/8 inches.
This is an interesting bronze spear head from ancient Persia. It is similar to items attributed to the Luristan culture ca 1200 BC. This is a heavy and robust weapon with no signs of damage, repair or restoration. It has a square shaft, rectangular "tail" and leaf-shaped blade. This piece weighs 281 grams and measures roughly 31 cm. This is an excellent specimen for any ancient weapons collection.
