Noh theater mask, representing the character of Shintai, a youthful deity, with a rather soft expression. The mask is signed (see pictures). Painted wood, with metal eyes. Japan, Edo period early 19th century. Height: 21 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Slight abrasion on the painting in some areas, otherwise very good condition.

Chinese 18th Century bronze censer. The base cast with a sixteen-character inscription incorporating an apocryphal Xuande date, reading Da Ming Xuande wunian Jiandu Gongbu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao (Made by Wu Bangzuo, supervisor of the Ministry of Works, in the 5th year of Xuande of the Great Ming). 16,5 cm diameter.2048 gram weight. Censer has smooth dent (please see on the picture) No crack or repair. original patina.

Gourd shaped silk pouch, China c 1900. Embroidery of extremely fine seed stitch / Peking knot, depicting bamboo growing in water and on top a Yin/Yang emblem. Inside is a paper label saying No 6 China Peking. Height "6 ¾ / 17.7 cm. Condition: this pouch has been used and shows wear and tear consistent with age.

Extremely nice Ming dynasty Yongle period ( 1403 - 1424 ) blue and white bowl. Well potted porcelain body with a wonderful cobalt blue. Very good condition - there is only a very short nearly not visiable hairline to the rim ( please look closeup ) D : 4,85 inc. This rare bowl together with the Chenghua " ducks " dish, which we also offer in our gallery might be the best Ming dynasty Minyao ( peoplesware ) pieces, ever offered at Trocadero .

Japanese isho tansu (clothing chest) from the Yamagata area, made of kuri (chestnut) wood and sugi (cryptomeria) wood with lovely original deep red and black lacquer finish, iron hardware with ivy leaf lock plates, hirute handles, safe box with two small interior drawers, Edo/Meiji Periods (circa mid 1800's). H 35-1/2", W 39-1/4", D 17-1/2"

A very nice, larger Longquan ware " Golden Celadon " jarlet. Very nice moulded floral decoration, covered with an excellent Celadon glaze. Yuan Dynasty ( 1279 - 1368 ). Longquan ware, Zhejiang. Diameter : 8,4 cm. H : 7,4 cm. Condition : Perfect.

19th century Japanese bronze tea ceremony hibashi (long metal chopsticks for handling charcoal in hibachi brazier) with finials in a form of heads of the Fungus of Immortality. These hibashi are for use in the summer time (winter ones have top half covered in wood). Finely made of bronze with high copper contents, beautiful casting and chiseling of the fungus, embossed areas at the working end for better handling of charcoals. Superb patina, beautiful wear, pleasantly heavy. Length 11 inches.

19th century Japanese small lacquered wood netsuke representing an unusual theatrical mask of O-Beshimi which was used in folk plays by an important figure with “negative” character. Crisp detailing, nicely lacquered, great patina. some wear to the surface. Signed RYUUN on the back bar - the artist is listed in NETSUKE MASKS by Raymond Bushell, p. 175, signatures 241-243. Height 1.14 inches.

Antique 18th-19th century miniature Indian Hindu bronze Shiva shrine from Western India in the form of a courtyard, Shiva and his family seated around a lingam, including his wife Parvati in her Annapurna manifestation and his son Ganesh, and the Shiva's Vahana Nandi at the entrance.

CONDITION: It shows its age and use with age-related wear and patina.

Rare Antique Japanese Negoro red lacquer tiered stand. Five arched cabriole legs below the hand carved apron, the feet ending at a floral step base. Overall condition is very good and consistent with age.
