A nice 19th c scholar's seal and paste box set, along with a silk-lined vintage presentation stand. The seal, carved from clear rock crystal, features a well-rendered foo lion finial...

Mid 19th century Chinese blue and white ink pan (or box) is 2 inches tall, 3 ¾ inches long and 2 ¾ inches wide. The entire body is hand painted with pattern style of clouds, branches and flowers. The box is evenly divided into two parts. From the remains of pigment, it seems the box was used as a red ink (cinnabar) dish. It is in great condition.

This pair of Chinese archer rings with wood stands and caps is a product of late 19th century. They are 1 3/16” high (the darker one is a little shorter), 1 3/8” in diameter and a quarter of an inch thick. They are 2 ½” high with the carved wood stands and caps. The two knobs are made from natural red coral. They are in excellent condition and look great on a scholar’s desk.

This is a Japanese antique indigo dye cotton sakiori big thick apron textile.There is a very slight stain, but there is no damage.The indigo dyed sakiro is very beautiful. Size:length:60cm(23.6inch)Width：90㎝(35.4inch)

This Qing Dynasty Guang Xu Period (1875~1908) Famille Rose seal box is 2” high and 3” in diameter. It depicts two young boys riding on Qi Ling (or Ki Ren, a legendary animal, usually related with young male), another is pushing a cart, carrying a symbolic officer’s hat. There are small floral designs on the rim. Aside from one old chip inside the box and a couple of small chips on the bottom, it is in fairly good condition.

Cloth with katazome (stencil-resist dye) which is hand spun and vegetable indigo and pigment dye. In good condition, however slightly colors faded. 19th century. W:32.5cm, L:180cm

Mid 19th century Chinese blue and white brush holder is 4 ¾ inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. It depicts a scholar with a staff standing in front of a hut which is surrounded by mountains and trees. It is in great condition.

This 18th or 19th century green glazed and carved porcelain brush holder signed by ¡°Wang Bing Rong¡± is 5 inches tall and 3 ¼ inches in diameter. It depicts a plum tree in full bloom. The design is simple and elegant. The workmanship is just wonderful. The piece is in great condition. Information on Wang Bing Rong is presented under item inventory number 1045.

Chinese 19th century carved soapstone figure hold frog or (beast) on the left hand. with incised Chinese inscriptions on the back side.12cm high.12cm wide (approximate from the broken foot). Conditions : has damage at the right finger and the foot. (please see on the picture).

Japanese Beautiful zanshi and sashiko Stitch furoshiki Meiji era (1868-1912).It is made of hand-spun cotton.It has a few thin stains. However, The stain does not stand out.It is no damage.They are not disturbing, and as a whole it is in very good condition. size:136cm x 118cm(53.5" x 46.4")

This amber Raku chawan was made in late Edo Period (1800-1868). Raku pottery is traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremony since as early as the 16th century. Size Width 4.0in (10.3cm) Length 4.1in (10.5cm) Height 3.4in (8.7cm) Weight 10.93oz + Box 6.35oz (310g + Box 180g) Condition Good considering the age. This late 19th or early 20th century hornbill casque with a carved ivory plaque of Guan Yin (Goddess of mercy) standing on cloud is 4 ½ inches high (with base is 5 ¾ inches), 7 ½ inches long and 3 inches on the widest part. It is in great condition.

Fan-shaped kobako, decorated with clouds and wisterias in gold lacquer and kirigane on a silver background. The sides are decorated with a checked pattern in gold lacquer. The background and the inside are in nashi-ji lacquer.

A rare stacking Bento (picnic) box in the shape of a tea leaf storage jar decorated in a realistic fashion with black, silver and gold maki-e lacquer. It consists of four pieces, stacked they are 28 cm (11 inches) tall, and all are in excellent condition.

Japanese Kamakurabori Lacquered Box by Kasen, with a design of Peony and Shishi, Buddha's Guardian Protector. Gorgeous rich red lacquer intricately carved in high relief. A superb example that is rare for its size, quality, and superior technique. Meiji Period, circa 1890. 13 inches x (33cm) long x 11 inches (28cm) wide x 6 inches (15cm) deep. From a widely renowned and published collection that has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum and Japan Society.

A slightly larger than average pumpkin form Yixing teapot, with nice used patina, probably made in China during the 18th or 19th Century. This item does not carry a maker's mark. Condition - very good - there are light (production) firing cracks to the body (see enlargements 5 and 8) and there is a chip and some small firing cracks to the inside of the cover; no other damages and no restoration...

From our Japanese Collection, a superb and large satsuma lidded jar / tea caddy by Ryozan, Meiji Period 1868-1912, stunningly executed with exceptional fineness depicting two cartouches of people gathering, alternating with two cartouches of ducks and birds in nature scenes, all separated and framed by intricate brocaded reserves of floral motifs using wonderful color variation and extensive gilt.

Size and Condition: A relatively large caddy at 7 1/4 inches tall, 6 1/8 inches wide.

Japanese Antique Kesa Cloth (Buddhist Priest's Vestment) made with prized brocade displaying the crest of the Tokugawa shogunate and framed with a rare purple and gold silk brocade with red accents. The "triple hollyhock" mon belonged to the Tokugawa feudal military government of Edo Japan (1600-1868).

Often described as a mantel or robe, the kesa is worn draped diagonally over the left shoulder and under the right armpit...

Antique Japanese textile decorated with a design of tea ceremony utensils. Small items such as a bamboo ladle for water (hishaku), a container of charcoal, cups, a tea whisk (chasen), a container for water (mizusashi), and other items surround a large central image of a portable iron tea kettle (kama) and brazier (furo). This design in done using a paste resist and indigo dye. A lovely blue color in four panels sewn together...

Oshi-e, litterally "pressed picture" which is made of fragments of antique European prints and the motif is a young woman in Edo period. The history of Oshi-e date back to Heian period, found in Shosoin Treasures (around 10th century) It was very popular toy in Edo period with motif of Kabuki Theatre actors. The ground paper is "Itame-gami" which is ten layers of washi and has thin cotton lining so that it looks like a shallow relief...

This is nanbu shikon-dye shibori futon cover at the Meiji era. (1868-1912) It is cotton of nanbu-shikon-dye of iwate Prefecture. It is a shikon of nature dye. It spins by the hand and shibori dye is done by the hand. Very, it is wonderful, beautiful shibori dye. There is neither stain nor damage.It has five small traces of the repair on the back side. However, it is good condition.The change of the color by fading is very beautiful, and it is charming. It recommends it for your collection...

Beautiful Japanese antique kaidan tansu (step tansu) made of dramatic keyaki (elm) wood burl, iron hardware with hirute shaped drawer pulls, in two sections, Edo Period, circa 1850s, (early 19th century). Size: 76 3/4" high x 71 1/2" wide x 27 1/2" deep.

Polychrome Sumida-gawa ceramic bowl made from sandstone, also called Sumida-yaki. Some parts are glazed. Original decoration of an old man trying to climb the bowl.

Mark of Ishiguro Koko (石黒香香): 香二, Koko. The 二 marks the repetition of a character in traditional Chinese. His name can also be written 香々 or 香二). His real name was Ishiga Gôzô (石田郷三). He is a potter of the early Meiji era...

The glasses made of smoky crystal. Minor chips to the tortoiseshell, some of the metal hinges have been replaced in the old days. Very good condition considering the age. China, late 19th century. Width 13, 5 cm. H. 5 cm.

This is a 19th century Chinese brush holder made of Huanghuali. It is a rare piece because of its size. It measures 8 ½ inches in diameter and 8 inches tall. It is in excellent condition.

Asa (hemp) wrapping cloth with hand-drawn tsutsugaki noshi design. Noshi is an auspicious motif which used to be flattened abalone strips and was decorated on a gift. The wefts and warps are both hand-plied. It is colored with pigments. In good condition except for some wear and stains. 19th century. 84cm x 103.5cm

Hemp bag with age, Meiji 24 (1892) and the owner's name, Sahiko (佐彦）、whose warps and wefts are hand-plied. It has very well-done mending and reinforcement stitches, and also a mending patch. It has letters "25 sheets", but it is not clear what was put in. It is from Niigata prefecture. In good condition. W:29.5cm, L:52cm

This late 19th century Chinese bamboo brush holder (Bitong) is 12 inches tall and 5 inches at its widest part. It was carved in high relief and lacquered. The top part of the cylinder presents the story of the seven immortals of the bamboo grove. Four immortals are looking at a scroll picture; two are playing ¡°Go¡± and one is watching them play. The bottom half of the cylinder depicts five elders gathering in a garden surrounded by pine trees...

An interesting 19th century taibaizun water pot, covered with an even layer of peachbloom glaze and enameled with two dragons playing amongst waves. The base is marked with a very well written Kangxi six-character kaishu mark in underglaze blue.

This 19th century red (almost ox-blood) glazed brush washer has fine crackles covering the entire body and a splash of green sheen in the middle. It is 4 ¼ inches in diameter and 1 ¼ inches high. There are a few small chips on the bottom. Good condition.

A very rare pear-shaped vase - Yuhuchunping - finely painted with black enamel on "biscuit" (un-glazed) porcelain depicting two five clawed dragons above waves, and amongst clouds and flames, in pursuit of pearls. This item was probably made during the reign of the Daoguang emperor (1821-1850) and is possibly a reject from the imperial kilns. This massive mid or late 19th century white jade (nephrite) carved Ru-Yi scepter is 18 ½” long, 5 ½” wide (from the widest part) and 3” high (from the highest part). The whole scepter was carved from a single piece of nephrite. The carving depicts mythical figures, animals and buildings surrounded by clouds. Aside from some natural flaws in the stone, it is in excellent condition.

This Chinese bamboo armrest is dated summer, 1876. The artist¡¯s name is Wen Zhu. A large character at the top of the rest reads ¡±Lu¡± or prosperity. It measures 7 1/8 inches long and 2 ¾ inches wide. It is in very good condition.
