This is a cizhou style wine jar in a baluster shape from the Yuan dynasty (1277-1367 A.D). It stands on a shallow short recessed foot-rim like a stand and then everted outward like a short “C” shaped pedestal and the everted outward and upwards to a baluster shaped body with a flat shoulder and then straight upwards towards a very short neck mouth rim. A colorful profusion of precious objects and coins adorn this beautiful cloisonne box against a black background, the lid has a finial in the form of a foo dog making this a truly unique treasure. Antique Japanese rectangular box decorated with gold and silver dragonflies on a black lacquer ground. The lid is fastened on by a green chord. Inside is a removable tray lacquered with gold and silver crickets in wisps of golden grass. This box comes in a cedar tomobako.

The stone is a creamy tone with pale russet flecking mainly seen on the back. A darker brown veining can be seen on the lower leg. It is carved overall, including the underneath showing one leg folded under. The polish is an even soft gloss like that produced from years of handling. Good condition, with no chips or restorations.

A yellow glazed Raku chawan, dating from the Meiji Period (ca. 120 years old) with its originally signed wood box.
The chawan is in superb condition with no chips or cracks. Around the bowl are carved chinese characters. The tea bowl is very solid and fits perfectly into the palm of the hands. Great chawan!
