Classic semi antique Laotian textile from the Tai Daeng ethnic group. This was acquired in 1991, just when Lao was opening itself for tourism and was about 30 years old at the time so this would date pre Vietnam War era. It is mounted onto a commercial Chinese chintz cloth border (looks original), made from all hand spun cotton and silk thread in the embroidery (except for the black pattern). Antique Japanese 2-section mizuya tansu (kitchen chest) from the Mikuni area. Made with hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood framing and beautifully grained keyaki (zelkova elm) wood panels on the drawers and sliders. The frame is lacquered a rich reddish-orange while the slider frames are lacquered black. The top section has an unusual, narrow full width compartment on the very top with two sliders...

An antique Japanese Kotansu (personal storage chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original cast bronze hardware including the Warabite handles. Straight dovetail joinery construction with hardened wooden nails. Versatile storage with 6 drawers of varying sizes.

Antique Japanese todana tansu (storage chest). Large sliding panels with wide horizontal slats open to a series of interior drawers: four drawers on the right (two large and two small) and three large drawers on the left. The front and frame of the tansu is made of hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood with kiri (paulownia) wood drawers. Iron hardware includes hirute shaped drawer pulls.

Antique 16th - 17th century Mughal Indian cast bronze bottle-shaped wine vessel from north India. The rounded body with diagonal ribs, is sitting on a trumpet footing with incised rings; the tapering neck is decorated with stylized petal lappets design and horizontal ribs. This type of vessel was used for rice wine that it was served during weddings and other profane or religious ceremonies.

Antique,18th - 19th century, Indo-Persian Central Asia or Northern India, Islamic brass Banner - Standard finial” Alam”, composed of conical socket, surmounted by the elaborately cut-out in openwork Arabic calligraphic script, supported at the base by two stylized dragon heads.

A choice bronze 10 tical opium Toe weight, Burmese ca. 1750-80 AD.

This Toe has the elavated horselike tail with three spikes, and standing on an octagonal and finely stepped base.

Carved wooden cup representing large lotus leaves and buds on which evolve a crab and a shrimp. The feet are made up of snails. Although the carving work is of excellent quality, the wood used is not purple sandalwood. Part of the edge has been broken as shown in the photo, but this does not affect the aesthetics of the object. In addition, restoration work is possible with a perfect result.
