Antique Japanese pair of hardwood fusuma door panels with black lacquer frames. The doors are hand-painted with a rooster, a hen, and their chicks with a bamboo grove background, accented with gold flakes. Each door has wire mounts in back to be hung for a wall display.

How often do you see a flame stitch mat? This one still has vibrant color. The foundation is a loomed homespun. It has a spider web fringe that is so fine and beautiful. I have taken pictures of the 3 areas of with condition problems. There are two small holes and one larger one. The fringe also is sparse in many areas around the mat. That said this is a rare form of flame stitch and is paper thin and very finely woven. It is mid 1700's and is 6" by 11".

Fairly large zushi hand shrine in the shape of a lotus petal. Double sided, made of sandalwood.
Inside each half is a deep relief carving of Buddhist deities. On one side the three-eyed Aizen Myoo with a lion crown, sitting on a lotus base in the clouds before a red mandorla. Turn-of-the-century Classical sterling silver trophy cup. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Ovoid body, flared mouth, and c-scroll handles with realistic leaf and bud mounts. Spread foot has same applied to four supports. Interior has gilt wash. A fine design with lots of room for engraving. This antique Amish mat is hand braided and really nicely hand sewn. It is in near perfect condition with some minor surface abrasion. It is very tightly braided and to the touch it feels like it has some wool in the fabric. The colors are a green/blue, pink and purple. I lies perfectly flat on the table. 10" by 13" Late 19th C.

A vintage Japanese white metal incenser, in the form of the mythical creature Kirin, who has chimerical features of a dragon mixed with a horse. It is well-cast with fierce detailing. A section of its backside acts as a lid.

Antique Japanese iron tetsubin (tea kettle) of an octagonal shaped body, with seaside village scenes, willow trees, and boats. The sides flute outward and then dramatically taper into the rounded foot. Its lid is bronze with a highly stylized signature from the artist.

Late Qing Dynasy (1880s 10 1911) century Chinese Peking glass seal in cylindrical shape. Wonderful simple piece appropriate for a scholar’s table, very pleasant finish to the surface. Transparent glass with the slightest pink tinge. The bottom is carved with two raised characters that can be translated as EASTERN GARDEN, red seal paste in the grooves. Imprint of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1. Height 2 3/8 inches, diameter 1/2 inches.

Lidded box, a soap box of quatrefoil ogee shape. Decoration of a garden family scene and a Qilin procession in the soft Famille rose colours of the Tongzhi period but later, probably c 1920.
