This early 20th century Chinese natural gourd cricket cage is 4 ¼ inches high and 3 inches on the widest part. Beautiful exotic wood case with cylinder music box that has bells, drums and castanets. This rural Mongolian bucket is made from lemon wood and was used daily to draw water from the local village well. Truely an ethnographic relic with original iron fittings, and evidence of constant use and old repairs. It is both large and heavy.
The diameter of the bucket is 18" and the bucket alone is 14" deep, add another 11" for the handle and iron toggle fitting.
The weight is approx 15 lbs. Originally made about 250 yrs ago and probably used constantly for a couple of centuries.
A metal box which contains an ink stone to grind ink sticks for writing. The box has been cast in light colored brass and has a copper bottom. The ink stone is secured in the lid with a spring frame. The top of the box shows a beautifully engraved lotus flower with leafs and a bud. An unusual Arita enamelled wall-vase, kakehana, circa 1750. The seed-shaped hollow body is moulded with trailing vines supporting a dragonfly. The painter has used two different greens, aubergine, yellow and black. The unglazed back is pierced for suspension. It is probable that this kakehana was made for the home market.

Authentic antique, Russian (The Grand Duchy of Moscow), a rare version of the Orthodox Byzantine double-sided cast bronze pectoral cross pendant, circa 15th- 16th century AD. The obverse, cast in relief, has the image of Christ crucified on the cross; under the arms are letters of the Greek alphabet, OV and MP, an abbreviation of the Greek Mater Theos (Mother of God).
