Coffee pots like this were used across northern Africa from Morocco to Saudi Arabia. These "Dallah" coffee pots would have been used to make the traditional Qawha and Khaleeji coffees. This coffee pot is from late 1800's early 1900. Price is commensurate with condition....It has had several repairs and is so heavily tarnished that I cannot identify the actual metal...I assume it is some mix of copper and some alloy which would be typical for its age. Heirloom wedding blanket cover from the tiny Maonan ethnic minority of Guangxi, China. First half of the 20th century-made with natural undyed local cotton with the pattern with made from floss silk supplementary brocade weft symbols of phoenix, flowers and butterflies, and is in perfect condition with no holes or tears. Some of the more brightly colored purple aniline dyed silk threads have been rewoven into the patterns probably within the last 40 years but are certainly not new...

Antique Japanese surimono woodblock print by Hokkei (1780-1850) entitled "The Chomonju - Snake and Melons". A snake entwined with a tray of melons. The poem above speaks of how the snake will become a dragon which will make clouds of white cherry blossoms in the mountains. Snakes and dragons are closely associated with water. The poems alludes to a wish for rain and the blossoming of Spring.

19th century netsuke of kagamituta (“mirror lid”) type with wooden bowl and buffalo horn top carved in sunken relief with a scene of running Thunder God Raiden beating his drum, thus creating thunder. Unusual kagamibuta material, wonderful design and detailing, dense dark wooden bowl with beautiful patina, brown silk cord. Some insect damage to the side of the top as can be seen on Enlargement 4, overall in great condition. Bowl diameter 1 3/4 inches, disc diameter 1 5/16 inches.

The design perhaps influenced by the Chinese Aster pattern of the Kangxi period and the later, Mid Qing, provincial Chrysanthemum pattern (see the Desaru Wreck). This very well carved 20th century Japanese netsuke is 1 1/8 inches high, 1 ¼ inches wide and 3 quarters of an inch thick. It depicts a worried monkey carefully pulling a splinter from his leg. The impression on his face is just great. It is signed but not readable and is in excellent condition.

A high quality earthenware bowl with incised decoration in green and painted in green and manganese on the exterior (Bamiyan type), afghanistan, c. 12th. century (Pre 1221 A.D.).

Antique Japanese unusual choba tansu (merchant's chest) with original red lacquer finish hardwood. A single long drawers runs along the top, with four small drawers along the righthand side, and two large, hinged doors on the left, with an interior storage area.
